Scaling Down

06/02/2010

A weighty matter it is. Lack of exercise and plenty of good food means excess and unwanted weights.

What’s more, I will be traveling soon and a strategy for quick weight loss is needed urgently or the holidays will not be enjoyable.

But not too quick or it might be dangerous. I also need to be sensible. Fine line when I’m traveling soon….

Preparations

05/02/2010

I was reading my friend’s account of his trip to Korea. Ours is upcoming and I thought I would look for tips. His was in December, over Christmas. He mentioned how he took his team leader’s wife’s very expensive sunblock and used it ever so liberally.

I wondered if it was anything like neutrogena skin id where you get good protection for a reasonable price. Not only that, if it were this, you wouldn’t need to put so much on!

Doesn’t he look cute here?

RRR

The countdown begins!

Chinese New Year a week away!

Our hols too!

I have to refrain from being too much in a holiday mood. I want to go and Rest and Relax and Release… But I mustn’t totally let go yet as I have lots to do still! I need to focus on getting my work sorted out first!

Then I get some literature about Disney vacation packages. What timing!

But no, I must be good. And focus on Reassigning my work, Referring my responsibilities and Realigning my priorities….!

Says It All

The T-shirt that says it all.

To be sold out for the Lord.

Dangerous Buildings

01/02/2010

My parents just told me about some disastrous demolition works that was going on in my hometown. The demolition had to be done by hand so progress was slow.

One day, while cars on the road nearby were lining up at the traffic lights, the entire block suddenly collapsed. Sadly two people died in their vehicles.

I think part of the reason for the need for doing it by hand was that there was asbestos involved. Thank goodness that most people are now aware of the danger of asbestos and  mesothelioma, an asbestos-caused cancer of the membranes that surround many of the body’s vital organs.

The problem is many old buildings have abestos for ceilings and many other fittings. Workers who demolish such constructions for renovations or rebuilding are in danger. Without proper gear such workers are exposed and are in danger. There are two to three thousand new diagnoses of mesothelioma every year. Early symptoms of mesothelioma are often similar to pneumonia. If you work in constructions and renovations and have these sypmtoms go seek for a medical check up and if caught early mesothelioma treatments will prevent cancer and untimely death.

Alas, this will not help those two people who died. I am glad that the buildings are now down but at such a price. The cleanup begins.

Furniture Fun

01/02/2010

Well, now that we have moved into our house for coming to two years, we are taking a second look at the furniture we have.

The entire house has both new and old furniture, mostly the staid, some would say old-fashioned sort.

We have been entertaining quite a lot of young people of late. I sometimes wonder if we should go for more modern furniture or would they feel more at home with the contemporary style pieces.

So as I type this, seated at the living room as I am, I look around and think “Perhaps I should get more colour here” and muse away.

I think I’ll make a list of things to bring up with Hubby when he gets home tonight!
