A Timely Reminder

14/04/2012
It had been one of those weeks.
Tiring people.
Sapping weather.
Difficult moments.
I was misunderstood.
I had been misinformed.
I was mistakenly told off more than once.
I had to keep reminding myself to stay focused, keep pressing on with what I needed to do.
Then on the way home with Arrow #3, we saw this.

Amazed that I managed to catch a shot of it. Delighted that it was flying repeatedly overhead. Humbled by the reminder.

Isaiah 40:31But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Eagles soar with the hot currents. They dont flap.

They fly above the circumstances. They are not grounded.

They can see with piercing sharpness and the small details. And yet have a full grasp of the surroundings and the big picture.

I am grateful for the reminder.

Saying Thanks

Forgot to post this the other day.

Made all the work so worthwhile.

Stress? What stress? Haha!

Enlisted Help

25/03/2012

I went to do some training the other night. There, due to limited equipment availability, I had to improvise and adjust the setting. The floor of the meeting venue had black lines. This meant that the wire for the projector almost camouflage into its surroundings. It was an accident waiting to happen. So I decided to enlist some help.

Do you like my cute buddy? Haha! No one tripped over the wire as a result and we had fun that night!

Just a Pencil

23/03/2012

So this is just a pencil. It’s just a normal mechanical pencil. Cost? Minimal. Brand? Run-of-the-mill.

So why am I posting about it?

Well, at a meeting a few weeks ago, this pencil was sitting at my desk. It is my pencil, and someone asked to borrow it for the duration of the meeting. At the end of the meeting, in the rush, everyone left and as I packed up, I realised the pencil had not been returned. Well, I am a realist. When I lend things out, I don’t expect returns all the time. So I shrugged off the loss.

The next day, the Borrower sought me out. He apologised and said that he would return it. Smiling, I replied that it was all right, and walked on. The incident totally forgotten. Another mechanical pencil took the space vacated.

TWO WEEKS later, lo and behold, the Borrower came up to me at another meeting. My raised eyebrows spoke volumes. He smiled and extended his hand to me.

In it lay my mechanical pencil, a promise kept.

Thank you EJ. Integrity is your middle name.

Accessories

19/03/2012

That was surely the wedding of the year! The amount of planning that went into it. I do believe the couple started planning a year ahead. Suitable attire was being sourced from all over the place. Even a trip to another country was contemplated. That was just the clothing. Then there were the other accessories like the veil, the shoes, and even the gloves for the bride. I gather their matching titanium rings were also specially sourced. I suppose when you have that special someone and it is a special moment, then you take special care to make it a special day. I pray that they start, continue and finish well!

It’s Over!

18/03/2012

Phew! THE Wedding of the year is OVER!

Well, at least from my point of view!

The evening went well, culminating in the final two weeks of preparations and celebrations. What a blast. What fun. Heard many good reviews, feedbacks and comments. So glad – it makes all the hard work, sleepless nights, and yes, losing of weight, worthwhile. It was amazing to see so many people gathering, mingling, chatting. From so many walks of life. It was almost like a meeting of who’s who, who was, who will be and who’s now. Haha!

Having Fun Learning

17/03/2012

Amidst all the other things, I take on an extra event. It’s a fun thing for me to do as I always enjoy being with younger folk and doing this particular sort of talk. This time is made more fun because of the challenges of venue. Borrowed equipment results in much improvisation required.

Here’s teddy “holding” the wire for the lcd projector so that no one stumbles over it.

Yes, it was my idea! Neat one, dont you think?

Working For Results

15/03/2012

The upcoming dinner is fast approaching. I have been going on the exercise machines like a maniac. Pushing myself so hard that some people are remarking how much better I look, how much weight I have lost. They often ask what I did to achieve these results

But when behind closed doors, the true story is revealed – I have mostly lost weight, yes, but I am oh, so flabby! As I get older, it is harder to get toned. Someone said I should try adding testosterone boosting supplements but I have hard of these syntheroid side effects and am cautious. I gather that there are some made with natural ingredients but I still wonder if one would be messing about with one’s body….

Meanwhile as I ponder and mull over this, the clock ticks and the dinner date draws closer…. ah!

Perfumes and Fragrances

09/03/2012

All that talk about money and getting things, I have an important function to attend soon. I havent had the time to get anything special to wear but a dear friend is offering me her lovely evening gown. Isn’t that nice?!

Now, I need to get some accessories to go with it, and perhaps complete the impact with not just appearance but also scent. Can you imagine it? A vision of loveliness (not!) and then as the image walks past, a whiff of delight. Haha!

Dreams and wild imagination aside, with the advances of chemical sciences and computer technology, the making of exotic fragrances is no longer a secret art the domain of expensive fragrance houses with big names. Cheap fragrances can no longer be sniffed at just because they are affordable (pardon the pun!) Very often the hoity would not spot the difference. So whilst I might not look the part, I might still cause a head or two to turn as I walk past them …..

Unique Everyday

20/02/2012

I am so glad to get my camera back. Then I won’t miss capturing moments like this.

This is the view from my upstairs window. Lovely isn’t it. And it’s new every day. This was taken on my day off. I had a quiet day at home, and when I finally emerged from my bedroom/study, this was the sight that caught my eyes.

Yes, I was glad my little point-and-shoot was handily nearby!
