A Workout

09/02/2012

I have a deadline to meet. I need to get some weight off! This week so far, I have only been able to get to do a workout twice. The other evenings have seen me working well past exercise time. I end up going home so late that the very thought of doing anything physical just makes me want to go curl up in bed!

And yet, I really need to lose weight.

Arrow Number 3 suggests that I can make it more fun – she’s challenging me to some games. Indoor games, and not the boring board game ones! No, she is offering her new gadget! She was given a wii as an early birthday present.

Hmmm that might just do the trick….!

Music Magic

30/01/2012

I come home from a hard day’s work.

Stumbling and almost dropping the many bags and the house keys, I can feel my energy levels dropping further.

Then I throw open the front door and almost fall into the hallway. That’s when I hear it.

Music.

Our youngest Arrow.

She has been singing and playing the guitar. It’s almost self-taught too – she takes time to download songs from youtube. Then, headphones on, she strums and sings along.

And as I walk up the stairs, I feel my spirits rise along, and I am no longer weary. What a welcome home…. Unbeatable.

A Break Ahead

28/01/2012

I am going through a very busy patch right now. Much as I enjoy my work, sometimes I want to go away and have a holiday. Then, just the other day, Hubby added to my unspoken desire when he reminisced about our Korean holiday.

Skiing. It was the highlight of our holiday in Korea. Since then, Hubby will periodically look for good winter or snow jacket so that we do not need to rent should we go again. He reminded me that we have many standing invitations to visit Canada, New Zealand and even Europe – all for skiing! He’s got his eye on some spyder jackets at the sale in one of the major shops in the city.

I think I’d better put in my leave application soon.

I Wonder

24/01/2012

Over the Christmas and now the Chinese New Year, I have missed my two older Arrows. One is south of where we are, the other is farther away, northwards. One is doing engineering, the other doing physiotherapy.

I don’t know very much about engineering, but having been a nurse before makes me wonder what is it like for our son now in placement in a hospital for his physiotherapy training. Would he need a uniform? When I was nursing, I needed nurses uniforms  and I recall the physiotherapists needing uniforms too. Would they supply him? I can imagine him looking quite dashing in white! Haha!

More Thought About Gifts

23/12/2011

What with gifts for the nephews sorted out, what about littl’ sis and sis-in-law….? I need something pretty but portable because I have weight allowance limits. We’re traveling budget air to get there. And because it’s a kind of family get-together on Boxing Day so I cant possibly go empty handed….

Hmmm how about some beadaholique gemstone beads? That might be quite novel and easy to take. They would certainly look pretty on my relatives. Possible, possible.

Traveling Aches

22/12/2011

After the mad rush and run-up to Christmas, we are now rushing around to get ready for our holiday break. I wonder how much of a break it will be, seeing that there are still things to sort out and a few events to keep in view.

Furthermore, we have a few stops to make between now and here and our final destination. Already Arrow #3 is concerned about having bad nights of sleep and hard pillows…. We are tempted to take some comfortable bedding with us, you know, like those custom mattress which one can get. Arrow #3 is wondering if perhaps we could order ahead.

Hmmm I thought I was feeling my age and aches. Not a young thing like Arrow #3!

Make Up Removal

17/12/2011

The funniest conversation in a long time.

I text Hubby. It’s been so busy that I haven’t had the time to go get some urgently needed things. One of which is makeup remover for Arrow #3. So I ask Hubby to do it. Specific instructions. Brand, type of remover and the size of bottle. I even tell him what colour it is. What more could you want? It’s an off-the-shelf kind of product.

Phone call #1 – Hubby is at a particular shop (no where near the one I suggest) Is that ok he want to know. What can I say? I am busy. If he can get it there, why not.

Phone call #2 – Hubby asks what about cream. I give him a quick no. I had someone waiting to see me.

Phone call #3 -Hubby says that is this wonderful cream. I give him a quick explanation about lotions and creams and then he realises I want a liquid….

Phone call #4 – Hubby wants to know whether baby wipes will do. No, that’s for the baby’s bottom.

Phone call #5 – Hubby asks what if he gets both the baby wipes and the cream – will that combination do? I sigh. I laugh. I say never mind. I will get it.

Phone call #6 – Hubby checks the colours of the remover. Wow! He is on track!

Phone call #7 – Hubby announces he has found the right remover! Yes! But it is a small bottle. Never mind! Get it!

Thank you….

Lesson learned – never send a man to get a woman’s thing. Hahahahahaha!

Make Up

16/12/2011

Goodness! I am tempted. So very tempted.

Arrow #3 is taking part in a musical. She was in one last year as part of the choir. This time, however, she is part of the dancing cast. She, who has not had any formal dance lessons for the last ten years of her life, is now going to take part in a musical! Wow.

The dressing up makes it fun. Otherwise it would be all dull. I wonder if I will one day post a photo of her made up. The lipstick is super strong in colour and merely enhances her lovely lips. She looks her part – a sophisticated young lady who encourages someone to gamble. Wow…

Don’t worry. It is all made up.

And the ending is good.

Carrying Things

12/12/2011

Sigh. Hubby is traveling a lot these days. I hope he won’t need to travel during the Christmas period. He’s been hopping onto and off planes so much that he now needs new carry-on and check-in bags. He is also considering an aluminum briefcase as the normal cases aren’t as robust.

Reminds me of the briefcase that we saw in the movie recently. I wonder if he fancies himself as a kind of Tom Cruise. I think they are about the same height! Haha!

Looking Good

08/12/2011

It’s coming to the year end, and my good-looking, head-turning third Arrow is preparing for prom night. The task of getting a suitable dress falls on Mom of course. I am normally a lousy shopper where clothes are concerned. This time, however, it might be reasonably easier as Arrow #3 is quite certain that Sherri Hill prom dresses set the standard for her. I hope Hubby is as thankful when he sees the prices! Still, anyone would look good in these creations!
