Making Memories

08/05/2012

It started off as “I don’t know what to do”. We were referring to our hair.

So we let it grow.

And grow.

And it grew.

It was almost a competition to see whose was longer.

Then one day, we both decided at the same time that enough was enough. It was time for change.

And change we did.

Both of us had more than half of the hair snipped off. She had a new look – stunningly nice. Easy to maintain too. I have one that is old but I know suits me well. Well, going by the many comments since, I am tempted to believe this to be so. Of course, any change from my previously drab style is better, what more such a dramatic one! Haha!

Great fun with my third Arrow.

A Timely Reminder

14/04/2012
It had been one of those weeks.
Tiring people.
Sapping weather.
Difficult moments.
I was misunderstood.
I had been misinformed.
I was mistakenly told off more than once.
I had to keep reminding myself to stay focused, keep pressing on with what I needed to do.
Then on the way home with Arrow #3, we saw this.

Amazed that I managed to catch a shot of it. Delighted that it was flying repeatedly overhead. Humbled by the reminder.

Isaiah 40:31But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Eagles soar with the hot currents. They dont flap.

They fly above the circumstances. They are not grounded.

They can see with piercing sharpness and the small details. And yet have a full grasp of the surroundings and the big picture.

I am grateful for the reminder.

For What It’s Worth

31/03/2012

All this fantasizing about what to do with the garden…. I would need tons of money to employ a team of people to transform the wreckage of a garden we have. I would have to probably pay them in precious metal; you know, like gold or silver bars. Perhaps even like the special golden eagle silver bullion bars. As if I had a supply of those!

Well, frankly, if I had that kind of money, that amount of commodity, I wouldn’t spend it on my garden.

Hubby, if you are reading this, for what it’s worth, I would spend the money on you and the family rather than the house!

Money Matters

07/03/2012

All this talk about getting things for the children and even for myself, my Hubby need deeper pockets! Haha!

Well, on a more realistic and current note, Hubby does need a new leather wallet. No ifs and buts about it – his present one is so worn out that his credit cards and notes are falling out every time he takes his wallet out! It’s almost embarrassing – as if he is flaunting his cards! Getting a new one is not easy – he has specific taste. He likes one that is slim, without zips and buckles. In fact, he just wants a plain simple one with enough pockets for all his cards and you know, stuff.

My Monday Mood

27/02/2012

On my day off, once in a while, I get into THAT MOOD. I call it my MAKING MONDAY mood. I throw open the refridgerator, pull open the drawers, check each box, package and pot. I do all that with one aim – what shall I put together for my family. I fuss about what I should put on the table for my loved ones.

This day, I went for THIS!

It was fun to do, and made all the worthwhile when Arrow #3 went, “Wow”.

Now, however, the standard is set!

A Workout

09/02/2012

I have a deadline to meet. I need to get some weight off! This week so far, I have only been able to get to do a workout twice. The other evenings have seen me working well past exercise time. I end up going home so late that the very thought of doing anything physical just makes me want to go curl up in bed!

And yet, I really need to lose weight.

Arrow Number 3 suggests that I can make it more fun – she’s challenging me to some games. Indoor games, and not the boring board game ones! No, she is offering her new gadget! She was given a wii as an early birthday present.

Hmmm that might just do the trick….!

Music Magic

30/01/2012

I come home from a hard day’s work.

Stumbling and almost dropping the many bags and the house keys, I can feel my energy levels dropping further.

Then I throw open the front door and almost fall into the hallway. That’s when I hear it.

Music.

Our youngest Arrow.

She has been singing and playing the guitar. It’s almost self-taught too – she takes time to download songs from youtube. Then, headphones on, she strums and sings along.

And as I walk up the stairs, I feel my spirits rise along, and I am no longer weary. What a welcome home…. Unbeatable.

A Break Ahead

28/01/2012

I am going through a very busy patch right now. Much as I enjoy my work, sometimes I want to go away and have a holiday. Then, just the other day, Hubby added to my unspoken desire when he reminisced about our Korean holiday.

Skiing. It was the highlight of our holiday in Korea. Since then, Hubby will periodically look for good winter or snow jacket so that we do not need to rent should we go again. He reminded me that we have many standing invitations to visit Canada, New Zealand and even Europe – all for skiing! He’s got his eye on some spyder jackets at the sale in one of the major shops in the city.

I think I’d better put in my leave application soon.

I Wonder

24/01/2012

Over the Christmas and now the Chinese New Year, I have missed my two older Arrows. One is south of where we are, the other is farther away, northwards. One is doing engineering, the other doing physiotherapy.

I don’t know very much about engineering, but having been a nurse before makes me wonder what is it like for our son now in placement in a hospital for his physiotherapy training. Would he need a uniform? When I was nursing, I needed nurses uniforms  and I recall the physiotherapists needing uniforms too. Would they supply him? I can imagine him looking quite dashing in white! Haha!

More Thought About Gifts

23/12/2011

What with gifts for the nephews sorted out, what about littl’ sis and sis-in-law….? I need something pretty but portable because I have weight allowance limits. We’re traveling budget air to get there. And because it’s a kind of family get-together on Boxing Day so I cant possibly go empty handed….

Hmmm how about some beadaholique gemstone beads? That might be quite novel and easy to take. They would certainly look pretty on my relatives. Possible, possible.
