The Perfect Relationship?

There are quite a few couples getting married in the next few months. It adds to the busy time of the year.

My parents are about to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Nice. Romantic. I’ll tell you one day how they met!

Meanwhile, imagine going to a matchmaker for marriage and requesting, ‘I am looking for a spouse. Please help me to find a suitable one.’

The matchmaker might say, ‘Your requirements, please.’

The reply – ‘Oh, good looking, polite, humorous , sporty, knowledgeable, good in singing and dancing. Willing to accompany me the whole day at home during my leisure hour, if I don’t go out. Telling me interesting stories when I need companion for conversation and be silent when I want to rest.’

I think the matchmaker will listen carefully and reply, ‘I understand what you need; you need a television’!

There is a saying that “A perfect match in marriage can only be found between a blind wife and a deaf husband”. Why? Because the blind wife cannot see the faults of the husband, and the deaf husband cannot hear the nagging of the wife.

Whilst we might laugh at this, you have to admit, it does have some merit!

Many couples are blind and deaf at the courting stage and dream of perpetual perfect relationship. Unfortunately, when the excitement of love wears off, they wake up and discover otherwise ….. and the nightmare begins!
