During this season and run-up to Christmas, we have been listening to lots of music. Traditional carols mingle with the new and contemporary ones. It struck me that there is one sound which could be quite timeless. One instrument which doesn’t ever seem to age is that of the harp. Even the ancient Bible refers to it, and in Psalm 149 is one of my favourite – referring to praising God. Apt in this time as Christmas approaches.
Will any one in my family ever play the harp? Hard to say. Our musical taste is so varied. They walked into a music shop the other day and their interest was perked up by that interesting instrument which seemed to mirror some of the songs we have been playing. Perhaps. Just perhaps we will enjoy another instrument in the house….
