Tending to some the herbs from in the garden… all were gifted by friends. I am so glad they havent died on me! That is because they came with instructions on the care needed, and I have worked to ensure they are followed…
Reminds me of Colossians 2:6,7 “As you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built and built up in Him, established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding with thanksgiving”
Yes we need to be intentional to continue growing well.
The virus has come to my nation, spreading itself speedily. To try and slow down the spread, a fortnight of restricted movement has begun. At the start of these two weeks, I am reminded to live (walk) in the midst of our abodes (within my house) with simplicity, uprightness, integrity, and from the inside out. That our conduct shown in our emotions, passions, is that of courage and boldness (perfect heart)
Start as we mean to continue, and number our days well.
The whole day. The entire day. It rained. And rained. And rained.
It was either heavy or a drizzle. And by heavy, I mean tropical monsoon style, with lashing winds and driving rain.
Some places flooded. Sigh. Some places were impassable. Some folk didn’t get to work. Children were late for school as their parents queued to drop them in shaded areas snaked around corners and out the school gates.
But I know some places need the rain. Ah well.
I am suddenly reminded of the Bible verse Matthew 5:44 which says “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” Thoughtful fodder….
I had to keep reminding myself to stay focused, keep pressing on with what I needed to do.
Then on the way home with Arrow #3, we saw this.
Amazed that I managed to catch a shot of it. Delighted that it was flying repeatedly overhead. Humbled by the reminder.
Isaiah 40:31But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mountupwithwings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
Eagles soar with the hot currents. They dont flap.
They fly above the circumstances. They are not grounded.
They can see with piercing sharpness and the small details. And yet have a full grasp of the surroundings and the big picture.
“You say, “I know I am right with God”— yet the “high places” still remain in your life. There is still an area of disobedience. Do you protest that your heart is right with God, and yet there is something in your life He causes you to doubt? Whenever God causes a doubt about something, stop it immediately, no matter what it may be. Nothing in our lives is a mere insignificant detail to God.”
2 Corinthians 12:9
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
The fact is that most fear is not based on fact. Much of what we fear is based on a feeling. According to an old saying, “Fear and worry are interest paid in advance on something you may never own.” And Aristotle explained, “Fear is pain arising from anticipation of evil.”
So true.
So what do I fear?
Earlier, at the Sunday Service, the preacher spoke about Honouring God and touched on the topic of fear. We serve what we fear.
Again, so true.
Time to re-examine my own life. A good start to the New Year.
