Preparing to Paint

28/03/2020

“Do something new” we were encouraged. Well, even before the encouragement to do so, we had prepared to do so. Old folks getting down to some DIY. We have done this kind of thing before, but not at our present house. So when news came about impending restricted movement allowed, we got ready… Lots to do!

Here we are then. Two old(er) folks, going to attempt something we haven’t done in years…!

Some before and after photos in the next post… perhaps!

Joseph & The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat

28/11/2019

Joseph

This long time beloved musical from London’s West End is now playing at my city.

What can I say… OutstandingFantastic… Or as Pharaoh sings, It will really “Blow your mind!”

But dont let me have the final word. There are Rave Reviews! A production from local amateur talents, all doing it without being paid. What a delight to bring to this city. #josephmusicalkk

Memories

23/04/2018

This day and age, it is so easy to snap photos on our phones and then wonder what to do with them. Post on social media?

I wonder if we ever go back to them again? Many tend to live for the moment.

In the old days (showing my age!) we would think twice, no thrice, before pressing the shutter. A roll of film did not come by cheap. After the roll was completely snapped up, one had to get the photos developed. I remember the days when we could send the roll off and get the prints a few weeks later. At that time, that facility seemed like a major step forward!

Then came digital cameras, and smart phones… and even better cameras. So yes, I wonder how much memory goes with each series of photos taken, seeing that it is so very easy to snap a moment.

Unlike this. I came across this photo recently. I can tell you the exact moment I snapped it – the occasion and location – and the story that goes behind the photo.

And the story doesnt stop with just the moment the photo was taken… There is a story after this story as well… but both would be for the next post…

Stay tuned….

Magnet Magic

02/06/2017

There is just something about magical about magnets. Coming in all shapes and sizes, they can give much pleasure to the little ones. Learning shapes, colours, and yes, even alphabet and numbers. From there, they can even spell and make phrases.

Fridge doors are the best places to have them.  Given a good variety of good quality magnets, you can watch the children play as you mooch about nearby. Add to the magnets other materials which can and cant be stuck by the magnet, and the children will learn even more. The possibilities are quite endless!

Now that my children have outgrown these versatile entertainment, I still keep them around because they are handy for when visitors’ children come around! Yay!

Taugeh Tips

20/04/2017

Hubby decided to experiment. He wanted to know how to grow beansprouts. What an adventurous and curious mind he has! He’s been at it for two weeks now. And look at the wonderful result!

Even if I had not been a fan of this fast-growing vegetable he would have “converted” me! So very nice! Yumm! Especially with some fried-to-crisp salted fish!

Curry Puff Day

25/04/2016

What an amazing day. Three sets of curry puff from three different members of staff in one morning. image

It’s kinda fun.

It also shows our similar tastebuds Haha!

What’s more, two were purchased from the same shop!

Don’t you just love such folk?!

Chillax

28/10/2015

Learned a new word! Chill and relax put together, becomes Chillax!

Hubby had a special gift for his birthday – a coupon for two to have a full body massage. Fantastic!

I am the one who likes the massage more, but this promised to be one that he might enjoy too. The only drawback was that a three-day notice was needed. Days went by and it became weeks. We still hadnt gone!

Then one day, on the spur of the moment (otherwise known as having a long full and shoulder aching day) he called the place and asked if they had an opening.

They did!

And off we went.

This was the first step – having a foot soak of five minutes and then having the foot dried.

SURPRISES!!!

08/01/2015

For the first one, they let me talk as they cleared the table. We were in a restaurant and had had a lovely meal. I happily chatted away and then a cake appeared.

I said, “Wow, what’s this?”

Brother-in-law says, “Dessert”.

“Oh,” I said. I was expecting fruits as usual.

Then I looked closer and saw the candles and the wordings.

IMG_3941_2Boy, did I get caught out!

A few days later, I got back to work. I had been traveling for my actual birthday. Whilst I had been on leave, three people celebrated their birthdays in my office. Fancy that! Two are members of the small team we have, and one was dropping by the office. What timing!

Anyway, while away, they sent me a photo to say that the white cake below on the left was my birthday cake which they were eating in my absence. Hah!

When I got back, I got stuck into my work, trying hard to clear my table. Suddenly there is movement at the doorway and the lights go out. Haha! They tried to surprise me! This time, with the cake on the right! Amazing colours and taste!

What joy to be blessed twice this year! Feeling loved…..

Learning and Fun

01/09/2014

We went away for a day to visit some students. We had been asked to do an English project with them. Rather than to do written work which a lot of other teams and groups of people would normally do, we opted to go for verbal skills to let them feel more comfortable speaking English. The games and activities were all geared towards making them speak. Incentives were given – if they spoke in English they would be rewarded with little sweets. If they spoke in any other language, they would have sweets taken away!

What fun they had. The room was tiny and that meant it heated up really quickly. Lots of screaming and laughter especially after lunch time – the sleepy nodding time Haha!

At the end, we told them that they were champions and gave them more rewards – specially made cupcakes. This was their response to the cupcakes!

IMG_7388Everyone of us agreed that we had a fantastic time and were eager to return again…. Now I have to think of more games!

Eating Tomatoes

28/08/2014

Here’s a novel way to encourage the tucking in of tomatoes!

Wash and slice them nicely.

Add some pickled sour plum pieces.

Stab a picnic fork in it.

Place in muffin style holders.

Voila!

A delicious treat indeed. IMG_7223
