Hibernating with Herbs

09/10/2020

Part of the new normal is to have home-grown herbs! Now for some of you, this might not be a new thing. Some might even have super green fingers.

For me, however I am just glad that this batch of herbs havent died on me! Take this mint for instance. Together with a few others, it was gifted by a friend, and came with instructions on the care needed. Needless to say, I have worked to ensure they are followed!

I am reminded Colossians 2:6,7 “As you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built and built up in Him, established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding with thanksgiving”

One has to be intentional in growing.

Better Late than Never

12/11/2018

From the time my son was less than a year old, I have set up a tree for Christmas. That was almost 30 years ago! Since then I have set aside a small sum of money yearly to add to the decorations I have.

The first thing that always gets set up is the tree. The tree reminds me of the tree that my Saviour died on for me and everyone… The green leaves remind me of the life He rose from the dead to give. Splashes of red on the tree often remind me that His blood was shed for me. The decorations on the tree remind me of the abundant life He promises – so much! The lights tell me yet again how He is the Light in a dark world; I am thankful. The gifts under the tree are reminders of the most wonderful Gift, and also of the gifts the Holy Spirit.

Normally I would set up Christmas decorations by the end of October. Any later, I would be swamped! This year, though it is already November, I am very glad to have help! Better late than never indeed!

The decorations promise to be nicer than ever this year. Looking forward to the end result.

Chillax

28/10/2015

Learned a new word! Chill and relax put together, becomes Chillax!

Hubby had a special gift for his birthday – a coupon for two to have a full body massage. Fantastic!

I am the one who likes the massage more, but this promised to be one that he might enjoy too. The only drawback was that a three-day notice was needed. Days went by and it became weeks. We still hadnt gone!

Then one day, on the spur of the moment (otherwise known as having a long full and shoulder aching day) he called the place and asked if they had an opening.

They did!

And off we went.

This was the first step – having a foot soak of five minutes and then having the foot dried.

An Important Wedding

22/06/2015

One thing that will happen when I go for my holiday away will be that I will be missing a very important wedding. I know, I know – if it’s that important, why would I miss it? Well, it’s because I had booked this flight before the wedding date was confirmed! Important though, because of the people involved – Hubby and I are quite close with them, having gone through much with them. I have to sigh. Nothing can be done…

Let me tell you about this wedding. It’s going to be the most amazing one. The colour scheme to begin with is not the usual white, cream, silver, blue, or even pink. This will be themed in fuchsia, no less! Not only fuchsia, but the other colours are white and purple. Reminds me of the actual flower!

The planning began ages ago, as most wedding are apt to be these days. The couple have spent a lot of time looking for the perfect outfits, the right photographers, the best wedding and dinner venues, and of course, the absolute must-have-one-of-a-kind wedding favours. They have looked at shops and stores, and even online. Actually, there are amazing items on offer online. For instance, look at this site; I mean, check these out, great prices! I am certain that I will be missing a really special event indeed. But I am thankful that I will nonetheless have something uniquely beautiful given to me to commemorate this day.

Quite a Shop!

28/06/2014

My friend, having been resident in the land for many years, knew exactly where she wanted to take me to next. This, I am told, is the best place to get these fresh produce, and in bulk!

So we head to this place and get an parking space very nearby. I am rather taken aback at the cost of parking, but I am told that this is because this is practically in the heart of the city.

As soon as I part those plastic sheets, the amazing array of smells hit me. Tumeric. Curry. You name it, they have it.

After trying to pronounce the name of the shop with the right accent (They are Greek, I am told) I go mooching about. IMG_8410There are so many items here that it takes us quite a while to explore everything. Even the basic chia seeds has so many varieties.IMG_8406Altogether a good shopping trip as I end up buying more things…. We get things for ourselves, for our friends. Some are healthy things like the chia seeds. Others are kind of “sinful” like fat-rich macadamia nuts! Haha!

Crown of Glory

18/05/2014

Last week I decided to make use of some of these crowns to give away. But before I did so, I added a Bible verse and a my trademark butterfly. Then placed each into a marked envelope and had a great time giving them away.

I gave them to Moms. “New” Moms. Moms who asked me to be a spiritual Mom to them, and a spiritual GranMom to their babies. (I know, right? So sweet of them!) IMG_6947The verse that I felt led to share with them? A verse which was significant for me personally. A verse which leapt out at me one day as I was reading. A verse which seemed apt for these lovely ladies.

You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand,
a royal diadem in the hand of your God.”

Isaiah 62:3

Yes, they were blessed. They really liked it. Some allowed their children to play with them…. which was, in part, why I chose children sized crowns….

Four in One

25/03/2014

We walked into this shop. Arrow #3 and I were hunting for some nice tops.

We had walked to quite a few places already. No joy.

Then as we were leaving, something caught our eye. The shape of the big bag was cute. We checked the price. It was reasonable. Then I opened it up to see what was inside. Expecting stuffed paper I asked Arrow #3 to come closer so I could pass her the stuffing whilst I checked for inside compartments.

Imagine our surprise when we realised that there was a smaller bag inside.

Then our surprise grew when we opened that one to find yet another smaller bag.

You would think that we would be sufficiently surprised by the time we got to the fourth bag.
IMG_4647Well, the other major surprise was that the original already-reasonable price was not for one bag, but for all four. That was SUCH an amazing deal, Arrow #3 and I got a set each!

When Small Things Make A Big Impact

22/03/2014

I didn’t think I had done much.

Thought it was the least someone ought to do to help.

Small matter but it made a difference I guess.

So they got together and did a special card.

They took the time to find a card.

And then to write on it

And what’s more, to decorate it!
IMG_3969This small gesture, to me, means more than they know. Thankfulness is such a rare thing amongst young ones these days. So thankful for their thanks.

Kept Waiting

14/03/2014

This gaudily bright package is three months old. We saw the contents in a shop and immediately decided that it would make a perfect gift for Arrow#3 so we bought it.Purple01 1The problem was trying to keep it hidden from her until it was time for her birthday.

So I did the most practical thing to do – hid it in plain sight… in a different way. I wrapped it up and left it out. She can’t touch it till her birthday and I can be assured that she won’t discover it too early.

Mean right? Haha

Well tomorrow then…
