Paint and Ponder

09/04/2020

Climbing up and down the ladder to get to all the nooks and crannies.

The ceiling in my house is high. Higher than most houses. I had to purchase a taller than usual ladder to reach the ceiling fans. Imagine having to paint those walls! And the ceilings! Just as well I didnt have bouts of vertigo! So glad that I was fit enough to do this! And most of all, that I enjoyed it despite the aches after.

With such thankfulness, as I reached up to paint the top of the walls, It crossed my mind  – Why am I not using the right tools? Shouldn’t I put an extension on my paint brush or roller instead? I realised that the post-painting session pains in my shoulder could have be lessened had I taken the extra steps to be more prepared. Instead of thinking beforehand, preparing in advance, and thereby using the right methods which could possibly ended up with a quicker and with a more comfortable conclusion, I rushed headlong and just did it… In this case, lesson learned – shortcuts don’t work without having some fore-planning. Just do it – put some though to it!

Painting Preps and Flaky Friends

01/04/2020

As with any project, there should be some preparatory work. Ground work is needed. Planning ensures smoothing out of potential bumps.

It is no different for our painting project. Old flaky paint needs to be removed.Sometimes I think that flaky relationships ought to be removed from our lives too… Just saying! Haha!

Preparing to Paint

28/03/2020

“Do something new” we were encouraged. Well, even before the encouragement to do so, we had prepared to do so. Old folks getting down to some DIY. We have done this kind of thing before, but not at our present house. So when news came about impending restricted movement allowed, we got ready… Lots to do!

Here we are then. Two old(er) folks, going to attempt something we haven’t done in years…!

Some before and after photos in the next post… perhaps!

Nesting & Caring

17/05/2019

Amazing…birds nest  in  all  sorts  of  places.  Look  at  this  one.  Perched  in  a  rather  small  place,  a corner  of  a window  ledge.  We  even  thought  it might  fall  off,  or  worse,  lose  the  eggs. But  no…  In just a few weeks,  the  two  eggs  hatched  and  the  chicks  grew  fast!It served as a good reminder to me during a difficult time, of how God says that He takes care of the birds … how much more He would take care of us! Matthew 6:26 “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” I know I have to deal with things in the future, but I dont need to stress over them. I can be rested because He cares. Thankful.

Room with a View

04/01/2018

Sometimes it is just nice to sit and be still. It’s been such a hectic few months. From multiple weddings to funerals, from Christmas plays to Christmas parties, from rehearsals to performances, from family time to work catch-ups…. It’s time to relax. Be quiet. And just chill.

What better way than to do it from a room with a view? Apart from being by the beach, or enjoying a walk in the park… sometimes I just want to hibernate. Thankful for the view I get….
Do you like what you see?

Working Out

30/04/2016

So we don’t have a helper at home. It’s a good weekly workout for me! These are the equipment I use! haha!

My favourite is the mop. The head is flat, and the cords are long. The stick is flexible enough for me to push down on to the floor. Love it!

I am almost tempted to just continue and not have a helper… But. ah well…..!

Busy Buzzing

20/09/2014

He does this every other weekend.

He will get dressed and then go downstairs to do his routine – a safe and sure one.

First, he makes sure the fuel is adequate.

Then he checks the equipment is in good shape.

After that, he test starts it.

Only when he fully satisfied, and only when he is, then he goes to the garden and fully turn the mean machine on.

A portable grass cutter – the tank of fuel sits strapped to his back while the long handled cutting end is held away, controlled with two hands at strategic gripping points.

IMG_1139He’s mastered this art and does it as part of his exercise routine. Cool eh?

Dream Abode

02/03/2014

We are still talking about our wonderful holiday recently. One would have thought that this we thought it would last us for a while. Instead it has whetted our appetite for more travel! What’s more when we found this lovely property! Don’t get me wrong. We also love where we are now. It’s a lovely place – naturally pristine beaches and wonderful diving, fantastic mountains nearby… you name it… It’s just that this could be another place we could spend our sunset years in. Of course we would have to commute… But that’s traveling… and the bug we have caught!

In Maintenance Mode

25/02/2014

Since coming back from our holidays, it would almost seem that everything is breaking down and needing repair! Well it would seem like that from the way Hubby is muttering to himself these days! He keeps saying this and that needs fixing. Why, just now he said he was looking for used machines to do some of the repairs jobs around the house. I could her him murmuring, “I don’t need brand new costly ones.” He tells himself “I won’t be using it often.”

I smile to myself as I hear him mumble and tinker away, glad that he is DIY savvy!
