An OCD Moment

06/04/2017

I confess. It’s a hidden part of me… sometimes it kind of escapes. Every now and again I just have to release it… actually truth be told, when the moment strikes I simply cannot contain it.

I get very obsessive about neatness, orderliness and not having anything out of place

Well, that moment occurred a few days ago. I took a look at these files and my fingers itched. Do you see what I see? They look neatly arranged don’t they? Looks can be deceiving. Look closely.

Only those inflicted with the same conditioned eyes, the same wired brain can see ….

The comb binds…. they are not all the same size!!!! How offending to the eyes!

Now please excuse me while I go sort this out. By the way this photo was deliberately taken from a skewed angle. To further “enhance” the dreadful sight!

The One That Didn’t Get Away

23/05/2016

This was one that definitely didn’t get away. What’s more, it looks like it was caught using legitimate means!

It’s very sad to know that some people dont catch fish. They bomb them, stunning and killing randomly. It’s such and irresponsible and selfish way to get a little bit of fish, causing much destruction.

Knowing this, we are actually thankful to receive this fish cooked like this!

Reviews and Appraisals

10/11/2015

Honestly. I am somewhat disappointed really. I was looking for a specific kind of pillow. There are so many types for sale and I really wasn’t in a mood to spend precious money to try each type out. What I was looking for had to be good but of course affordable. I have had enough of these supposedly orthopaedic pillows which didnt do the job at all. So there I was, looking around, and I am sure, looking very lost. I finally located a salesperson and made my request. To my dismay, not only was he ignorant of what I was looking for, he was downright uninterested to assist! It had been a long day, and I really didnt need this sort of attitude!

This incident made me compare with other places with high standards. Some places are so good that they are recognised and obtain special rating. The one I saw recently was the Cozy Winters Reviews – they have top rating! I wonder if it’s possible to get this sort of system enforced here. That would surely pull up some proprietors!

As for the salesman… I had to do something I dislike intensely; I made a complaint. Well, it wasn’t an official complaint. What I did was to go look for someone else who looked more able to help and remark how I had asked but got no assistance from that person. Turns out that the second member of staff I was speaking to was the manager on duty. Oops!

Best Way to Unwind

31/05/2015

After being so used to a good and entirely-set-up-for-my-personal-convenience computer, it was a dreadful time to be without. I felt like a nomad at the best of times, a scavenger at my lowest, trying to get into a computer which would do what I wanted it to do, at the speed and functionality I was used to. That’s when I realised how much I took things for granted. So thankful for backups! I was able to access my files somehow.

So how did I de-stress? I ate, yes, but more important to me is music. Music soothes the wild beast, and indeed the wild beast in me is soothed! So my favourite way to unwind those coiled up muscles and tensed up ligaments is to stick on some beats headphones and lose myself in some good music. Uplifting lyrics and music will take me to another plane for a while. And as I work on second, and sometimes third, class computers, I am serene…. Hahaha!

Beautiful and Inspiring

03/03/2014

Being naturally a fair person, I often get people coming up to me and commenting on that, with a tinge of wistfulness. My being freckle-cheeked doesn’t seem to deter their feelings of wanting-what-I-have-and-they-don’t. It’s rather sad. The desire to be fair in my part of the world contrasts with those of the other parts where tanning seems so essential. This is despite the cautions of skin cancers being disseminated.

I think the bottom line is that people are often unhappy with the skin colour they are born with. I think it’s a more-than-skin-deep issue. In general we find it hard to accept ourselves. There is this lie we grow up with that we are not good enough, not tall enough, not strong enough, not fair enough, not dark enough, not this and that enough.

Hence it is so refreshing to hear this young lady.

Four or Five

27/02/2014

Our eldest Arrow has completed his studies and is now waiting for a job. Meanwhile he has been often asked to play the bass at the church services. However, he prefers a four-string bass. The church, as does our youngest Arrow, prefer the five-string bass and that’s what the church has. Our second, who also plays the bass, is of the same mind as his sister and he has a five-string. His sister despite her preferences owns a four-string.

Confused? Yes, sometimes so are we!

We are now thinking that perhaps a visit to check out our local friendly instruments shop might be a good idea.

Then perhaps everyone will be happy!

The Sound

24/07/2013

Well, the music yesterday was pretty all right. But the subsequent speaker? I dont know if it was his microphone technique, his speaking style or the handheld microphone was faulty – his voice kept fading in and out. Or perhaps it was the sound system or speakers. Whatever it was, he could barely be heard in parts. I think someone should tell him or whoever is responsible that all these factors made the session quite difficult to follow. He should be given more training on public communication. He should be given a better microphone. Or better support from the tech side.

It is a shame really. The topic was good, the audience was willing, and the equipment is of a high standard. The problems just should not have arisen.

Saving Up

10/05/2013

Well, the General Elections is over here… for now. There is talk about a lot of irregularities going on, and in particular, people are concerned about the financial status of the nation. Some say the nation is going into bankruptcy under the present government! Strong words, and is translated to many trying to do their bit to save. Some serious investors, like a friend of mine, look towards gold and platinum coins. He tells me that these are a hedge from the uncertainty of paper currencies. Perhaps he is right, because despite the current slump in prices, the trend is still upwards. The current political climate is is making my Hubby consider doing likewise…

Building Castles?

30/01/2013

Here we go again. A frenzy of talking and planning. There isn’t even anything firmed up yet. I suppose they are excited. The anticipation is sometimes overwhelming. The excitement builds as they talk…. even though there really isn’t anything there yet. Haha! Such is the dinner table talk tonight.

What do I refer to? The new church building! We were bursting at the seams. To accommodate the numbers, there are now extra services on Sunday, with the same music team and the same preacher. The breakout rooms are fully utilized, with none to spare. On some weekends, there are meetings from early morn till late. Some weekdays see people gathering for all sorts of meetings. It can be quite a task to juggle the booking of rooms, equipment and limited resources available.

Now the talk now has gone to the fittings and furnishings. Top on the list, apart from the sound and lights system, are the church pews chairs. They have to be comfy ones, but can’t be too comfy lest one falls asleep – now that will not do! I am glad we are all agreed on this. But wait, now they are deliberating on the colour! So many to choose from!

I think I shall take my leave at this point and let them carry on. As I said, nothing is confirmed, so it is almost like building castles in the air….

What an Accident!

20/11/2012
Once in a while, we like to take a long drive out of town. It is fun to explore.
Whilst on a drive to a nearby town just recently, we were shocked to see this sight.

The driver in the red car must have been speeding and somehow did not even notice the silver car in front. The front of the silver car is smashed up too. It is as if the car behind had pushed the car in front on to something. We noticed a downed street light. I do hope the occupants were not too badly hurt.

The motorbiker must be thinking that he is glad he wasn’t in the accident. Perhaps a good helmet would have saved him from serious hurt but he would have still been badly hurt nonetheless!
