Whiter Shade of Pale

20/10/2014

We were just sitting down and our legs were outstretched. Suddenly someone commented on mine.

My first thoughts were “What, are they so fat that they have drawn attention?!”

I need not have feared. Attention was drawn because of the colour.

IMG_7778I have to admit, I look kind of anaemic here…… !

Time for New Ones

04/09/2014

They look new but they aren’t. These are my old faithful track shoes. They went with me to many lands, saw many sights and felt many changes of weather. They have carried me well in the gym and outside, on the treadmill and off. You can see the worn out and fraying sole bits at the bottom right of the photo.

shoesAlas, the time has come – they need to be replaced. Will I ever find a suitable pair to substitute these I wonder. I shall attempt to do so next week.

Answered Though Unspoken

12/06/2014

It was an unspoken desire. Call it a prayer but it was more a desire. I was feeling peckish that day. Surprisingly hungry. But I didn’t say anything because I figured I ought to just concentrate on my work and have my usual cereal lunch later.

Lo and behold, out of the blue, suddenly someone sends this!

It was hot. It was fresh. It was filling. It was tasty.

So thankful!

Another Unexpected Visitor

24/05/2014

It just lay there, as if stunned, near the window. I thought perhaps it had hit the glass and had winded itself. It must have flown into the house accidentally and was trying to make its way out.

So I picked it up and took it outside, intending to let it go.
IMG_5608It looked at me with its sad eyes.

Then it closed its eyes!

I tried to wake it up. There were no apparent injuries and it didn’t wince at anything I touched.

It was indeed a sad moment when despite my attempts, it refused to be revived.

I left it in a flower pot nearby. Thinking perhaps it would fly away by itself later.

Alas, when I came back, it had indeed left the pot, but only because my helper had taken it away….

Beautiful Visitor

12/05/2014

It just sat there. Waiting for me to pick it up. It didn’t seem to mind my doing so. Almost didn’t want to leave. Strange behaviour. Seemed content to linger and stay. IMG_6744I had just been mulling about butterflies the day before. They are special to me. Amazed to see one come by.

Thankful for this special experience. Didn’t know it would be possible to do this in my own garden!

Review and Remove

15/04/2014

So it’s twenty-four hours post-operation. It’s time for a review and to remove the drain in situ.IMG_5940The doctor does the removal very professionally and despite his huge hands, is super gentle and kind. We are indeed thankful. Arrow #3 is healing well. Mobilizing well and coping well with the pain too.

One phrase keeps reverberating in my mind – thankful to the Lord indeed.

Eventful Week

14/04/2014

Arrow #3 had to have some minor surgery done. Since most of us are mostly in good health, we hardly knew what to do for admission procedures and the like. Felt like a novice even though I have some training before. That was well over 20 years ago of course, and many things have changed.
IMG_6080Still, what little I recall was enough to go by. And lots of help from wonderful kind friends! What grace!

She was in and out the same day, with a small drain in situ. Then, it was home to rest whilst Momma nursed her. It made good mother-daughter bonding time…

A Love Affair

10/04/2014

Yes I am happily married, and have been so for over 30 years.

I refer to my passion, my desire, my love for these! Fountain pens!
FountainPens3

I just love being able to write smoothly and nicely in cursive writing. Hmmmm I wonder if anyone knows what cursive writing is these days. It started in school but also from my maternal grandfather. He and my Mom had the most amazingly beautiful handwriting and I wanted to emulate them. So when I could afford them and when I wasn’t so busy, I got myself these lovely works of art.

My passion also runs along the colours of ink. I used to function with only one bottle. But not any more. I now have blue-black, green, purple and turquoise blue. No, my list isn’t in order of my preference. Which colour I use depends entirely on my mood except the blue-black which is for more formal.

“Wait”, I hear you say. “That’s four colours and three pens.”

Well spotted. That was an old photo. Here’s a more recent one!FountainPens4Taaadaaa!

Purple Output

07/04/2014

So I had a craving for this fruit.
IMG_5722It was in season and in abundance. So very yummy, juicy without being too sweet. Loved it so much that I ate and ate and ate. It slithered down the throat so nicely that I didn’t realise how much I had.

So much that it affected my output, scaring me like …..! Wondered what had happened to me!

Took me a good twenty minutes to calm down and figure out that what goes in comes out too…. Phew!

Walk and View

01/04/2014

This was the view from my evening walk the other day. I downloaded the photo I took and used it as the wallpaper for my computer. Nice? I think so!Screen Shot 2014-04-07 at 2.56.36 PMI’ve said it before, and I will say it again – my place has the best sunsets ever!!! No kidding!
