Review and Remove

15/04/2014

So it’s twenty-four hours post-operation. It’s time for a review and to remove the drain in situ.IMG_5940The doctor does the removal very professionally and despite his huge hands, is super gentle and kind. We are indeed thankful. Arrow #3 is healing well. Mobilizing well and coping well with the pain too.

One phrase keeps reverberating in my mind – thankful to the Lord indeed.

Eventful Week

14/04/2014

Arrow #3 had to have some minor surgery done. Since most of us are mostly in good health, we hardly knew what to do for admission procedures and the like. Felt like a novice even though I have some training before. That was well over 20 years ago of course, and many things have changed.
IMG_6080Still, what little I recall was enough to go by. And lots of help from wonderful kind friends! What grace!

She was in and out the same day, with a small drain in situ. Then, it was home to rest whilst Momma nursed her. It made good mother-daughter bonding time…

A Love Affair

10/04/2014

Yes I am happily married, and have been so for over 30 years.

I refer to my passion, my desire, my love for these! Fountain pens!

I just love being able to write smoothly and nicely in cursive writing. Hmmmm I wonder if anyone knows what cursive writing is these days. It started in school but also from my maternal grandfather. He and my Mom had the most amazingly beautiful handwriting and I wanted to emulate them. So when I could afford them and when I wasn’t so busy, I got myself these lovely works of art.

My passion also runs along the colours of ink. I used to function with only one bottle. But not any more. I now have blue-black, green, purple and turquoise blue. No, my list isn’t in order of my preference. Which colour I use depends entirely on my mood except the blue-black which is for more formal.

“Wait”, I hear you say. “That’s four colours and three pens.”

Well spotted. That was an old photo. Here’s a more recent one!FountainPens4Taaadaaa!

Purple Output

07/04/2014

So I had a craving for this fruit.
IMG_5722It was in season and in abundance. So very yummy, juicy without being too sweet. Loved it so much that I ate and ate and ate. It slithered down the throat so nicely that I didn’t realise how much I had.

So much that it affected my output, scaring me like …..! Wondered what had happened to me!

Took me a good twenty minutes to calm down and figure out that what goes in comes out too…. Phew!

Walk and View

01/04/2014

This was the view from my evening walk the other day. I downloaded the photo I took and used it as the wallpaper for my computer. Nice? I think so!Screen Shot 2014-04-07 at 2.56.36 PMI’ve said it before, and I will say it again – my place has the best sunsets ever!!! No kidding!

When Small Things Make A Big Impact

22/03/2014

I didn’t think I had done much.

Thought it was the least someone ought to do to help.

Small matter but it made a difference I guess.

So they got together and did a special card.

They took the time to find a card.

And then to write on it

And what’s more, to decorate it!
IMG_3969This small gesture, to me, means more than they know. Thankfulness is such a rare thing amongst young ones these days. So thankful for their thanks.

Awareness

13/03/2014

Creating awareness is half the battle?

Understand that we can help?

Don’t be a passive observer?

Make a difference even in one life?

I was at a high tea. Nice sit-down event. Lovely decor with live flowers, in a five-star hotel. Lovely setting to be introduced to an ugly topic.

IMG_5192Human trafficking. Slavery. The statistics are staggering. The images are riveting. The problems are frightening.

There are more slaves today than any other time in history.

And it’s happening even at our doorstep. We can’t ignore them anymore. We can’t claim ignorance anymore. Some of us even treat our household helpers in the same way. The shock on the faces of some is evident.

Now the need to act and not merely talk…?

My Favourite Instrument

07/03/2014

Well, ONE of my favourite instruments is the sexy saxophone. Artists like Kenny G have made it more popular than ever.

Recently, I overheard someone playing it at a birthday party. What flair. What panache. What emotion. I could hear the lyrics of the song in my head as he played that golden oldie, “Only You”…. phew!

Later I went over as he was packing up to chat with him. I noticed him a meticulously cleaning the neck of the instrument. When asked, he explained that he had had to purchase and use some cork grease as an emergency because he had problems with fitting his saxophone. Now he had to clean it off.

Well, I would not have known he was having problems the way he was playing! That cork grease must have worked a treat! Now, I must go back and listen once again to those nostalgic songs .

INTERNET DOWN!

09/01/2014

Oh dear! A Blogger’s nightmare – the internet is down. All because of a storm that hit a few critical places. The entire place is out and we don’t know when it will be back.

What’s worse, the modem seems to have been affected too. Not good, not good.

Blackouts in the night means it is reasonably cool, especially in if there is a breeze. Failure in the daytime means at least we don’t have to contend insufficient light and over supply of enthusiastic mosquitoes! (Yes I am trying to be positive about this…!)

We really need to look into having a good generator… And perhaps now, a new modem too….

Rich in Rice

03/01/2014

Where I live, there are many varieties of rice. And I mean many. Just this little shop alone sells almost 20 types.

IMG_3359Some would prefer one type to another. Others would extol their preferred type. Yet others would disdain the smooth polished white rice which most people have. It’s becoming quite a fad to have hill rice, unpolished rice, and even different coloured rice.

For me? I just cut down on rice. Period. Haha!
