Of Sunsets

11/03/2021

One of the rare moments I get to watch the sun set. I am hardly outdoors these days, what with working from home. Even less often is going to places where the setting sun meets the sea.
Just taking a moment to record this. Snapped at arguably one of the top ten sunset spots in the world.

Roasted Goose Anyone?

27/05/2019

We were on a kind of a tour with Hubby’s friends. The itinerary had been scheduled by them – we just tagged along. The coach drove on for quite a long distance. It felt like we were heading from one end to another of this vast province in southern China.

Then finally the coach came to a halt. As we got out of the car, we could get a faint hint of a lovely appetising smell. The host explained – this was roast goose territory. But not just any roast goose. It was lychee wood that was being used. How awesome that was… the meal was delectable. The company was enjoyable. The experience was unforgettable.

Just writing this makes me think about going again!

Glorious Glow

23/09/2017

I am told some of the best sunsets in the world can be found on this part of Borneo. It is dramatic, it is arresting, it is memorable.
Sitting down to enjoy a picnic dinner with loved ones is something to be treasured. Memories built with the little ones will not be easily forgotten. Deeply etched within me are such scenes which draw me back to this place time and time again.

World Heritage Site

16/02/2017

What a chance! To visit the world heritage site of Petra. Visions of Indiana Jones and the trademark music come to mind. What an amazing scene! What an incredible backdrop.

Just being there makes me feel small. Indeed, the expanse and extent of the area takes my breath away. So very glad to have had the opportunity to visit. The 1.3km walk in the Siq was both unique and memorable. I would be happy to do it all over again.

Four in One

29/11/2016

Wow. I cant believe I am making yet another trip. This was one of those pre-booked from eons ago sort of trip. There was one other, but two unscheduled ones. Amazing. Thankful that I have enough leave!

So for this one, I am hoping for meaningful conversations…. I am not one for casual talk and pleasantries Haha! Let’s see how it goes….

Swanky Stuff

06/06/2016

Kid you not. This was a place which exuded “class’, “money”, “rich” and “excess”.  Initially unostentatious upon arrival, you are then warmly greeted and led down a long corridor. Leading off this passageway from both sides are rooms. Each room has at least one huge table with specific decor and table setting. Hubby and I were led to the second best room, because the top one was already booked.

With ample space for settees, side tables and more, the main dining table occupied pride of place below a chandelier.

The table setting… Quite unique.

The dishes that were served were excellent. The was a discreet wait in between each item on the menu, but nothing that was too long. The highlight of the evening has to be the smoked and roasted piglet. The waft of smokiness which hits the nostrils and lingers at the back of the palate is both tantilizing and memorable.

This then, is the Peninsular Restaurant at the newly opened Evolve mall in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. I would love to go there again!

Pampered

30/05/2016

A free night’s stay in a swanky hotel in the golden triangle area of the capital. What a way to end a business trip away. Beyond expectations really. The room is labelled premium so we get located to near the top floor. Then we get super fast wifi for five appliances. The bell boy who attends to us is so informative and polite – obviously well trained. Wow.

The ceiling of the room is so high that one can’t help but be impressed.

Not to mention the little touches that make it a little more special, such as extra towels without being asked.

It made this business-cum-getaway a special and blessed one!

Pristine Lake

02/07/2015

A short walk to the lake and I am left speechless. It’s waters are clear. The surroundings are serene. People can do all sorts of summer water activities here and yet I am told that the water is clean enough to drink.Zell am See LakeIt’s possible to swim across the lake but you would have to be a confident and strong swimmer.

A drive around the entire lake takes about 30 minutes. That’s vast. Beautiful place to relax. Love it. This is Zell am See Lake.

Home from Home

30/06/2015

When in Austria, you can either go to the countryside or stay in the town. We opted to go to Zell am See, an hour’s drive from Salzburg.

You can also have a choice of rental – apartments or condominiums is one. The other, which we much prefer, is to get a house. This one is fully equipped (towels and toiletries, dishwasher and dryer) well maintained (lovely wooden paneling inside) and in a convenient location (minutes walk to the town centre and most places)

The Hills are Alive

27/06/2015

The famous song echoes in my mind as I look towards the lovely Alps. Snow is beginning to thaw, and that simply adds to the beauty. Scenes that I have only found in magazines and on the television are now being visualised by my very own eyes. I feel so very blessed.thumb_IMG_8083_1024

The weather was perfect – not too hot and not too cold. In almost every direction I turned I saw majestic mountains crowning green pastures.

We used Zell am See as our base. This is the village where the Von Trapp Family stayed. So one evening, there was a tribute to the family. A water, laser musical. Though it didn’t last very long, it was fun, informative and entertaining. I took lots of videos and was left, like many present, wanting more.
