Continuing the Music Magic!

I was so inspired by the music from the youth rally two weeks ago that I got out my guitar! Old faithful. Old is an apt description. It’s over two decades old! Still looks good right? The sound is a little thin and I probably need to change the strings again. The rest of the family play on it too, though someone needs to maintain and take care of it… guess who….

An alternative, of course, is to get another guitar! If I do, then I would pass this on to the children while I use the new one. Choice-wise, I would seriously consider epiphone acoustic guitars, check it out at There is such a good variety of quality musical instruments there.

Hmmmmm yet another alternative is to point the children to this site and let them get their own! After all, they can afford to get one themselves! It will be money worthwhile spent… and we will be able to make good music at home. That would be magical indeed.

A Night of Music Magic

Last week the young people had a wonderful rally. More than one hundred of them gathered! They played games and had all kinds of activities. They bopped away to wonderful upbeat and lively tempo music. They settled down to touching and meaningful lyrics. I particularly enjoyed watching the band. The guitarist seemed to be the music director was really on the ball – he carried the music well. He seemed to use a Line 6 FBV Shortboard, the MKII version, because he was able to do soooo much from the stage! Tremendous freedom with controlling the sound. I wonder if he got it from fbv – because I know they deliver worldwide, which includes this part of the world ….. The evening ended with a blast and all of us left pumped up and energised. I couldn’t sleep till late…. And no, I am not that young in age, but young in spirit, which is why I took part! Haha!

World Heritage Site

What a chance! To visit the world heritage site of Petra. Visions of Indiana Jones and the trademark music come to mind. What an amazing scene! What an incredible backdrop.

Just being there makes me feel small. Indeed, the expanse and extent of the area takes my breath away. So very glad to have had the opportunity to visit. The 1.3km walk in the Siq was both unique and memorable. I would be happy to do it all over again.

Four in One

Wow. I cant believe I am making yet another trip. This was one of those pre-booked from eons ago sort of trip. There was one other, but two unscheduled ones. Amazing. Thankful that I have enough leave!

So for this one, I am hoping for meaningful conversations…. I am not one for casual talk and pleasantries Haha! Let’s see how it goes….

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Yes, it’s middle of November and I suddenly “wake up” to the fact that Christmas will be fast approaching. What HAVE I been doing? Oh boy! So glad I managed to get my tree up!img_6904

There is still Christmas shopping to do but so little time to do it. Oh boy! I blink and the first ten months have flown by…. Slow down!

Pick Me Up

I love this sort of start to the day.

img_7590Especially when in good company.

How Low Can You Go

This was something I did not expect. A sudden feeling of ill health. Weakness. Dizziness. Lightheaded. And I didnt know why.

So I decided to head home. As I got up from my chair, I felt another wave of dizziness.

Somehow I made it home safely. Thank you Lord.

Once indoors, I grab a quick bite and rest. That’s when I think to myself, “What’s with the dizziness.” That’s when I recall we have a sphygmomanometer. A blood pressure measure machine.

I have to say I was quite surprised with the result. I half expected it to be low, but not this low!

IMG_5448Subsequently I was told to rest, hydrate and increase salt intake. That was fine with me – it meant a night in, and going to bed early. Yay!

And yes, I am fine now!

Ginormous Gastronomic Glee

I kid you not. The prawns were huge.

But wait. I am jumping ahead of myself.

It was a free afternoon during our trip away because Hubby’s meeting time was changed. So we asked some friends at very short notice if anyone was free for lunch. Lo and behold, a group of half a dozen friends managed to meet up with us. Of these friends, there was one we had not seen for over 30 years! What a good time we had together!

We were treated to a splendid meal served at the Kampung Ku Restaurant at the Lake View Club. The signature fresh water prawn noodles was a memorable dish not just for it’s taste but also the size of the prawns!
IMG_5482Each prawn was divided lengthwise. Each half was a good 4 mouthful in size.

Cooked with the special sauce and noodle, it was so flavourful, I had four helpings of it! Definitely a must if you are in that part of the city! Yum!

Swanky Stuff

Kid you not. This was a place which exuded “class’, “money”, “rich” and “excess”.  Initially unostentatious upon arrival, you are then warmly greeted and led down a long corridor. Leading off this passageway from both sides are rooms. Each room has at least one huge table with specific decor and table setting. Hubby and I were led to the second best room, because the top one was already booked.

With ample space for settees, side tables and more, the main dining table occupied pride of place below a chandelier.

The table setting… Quite unique.

The dishes that were served were excellent. The was a discreet wait in between each item on the menu, but nothing that was too long. The highlight of the evening has to be the smoked and roasted piglet. The waft of smokiness which hits the nostrils and lingers at the back of the palate is both tantilizing and memorable.

This then, is the Peninsular Restaurant at the newly opened Evolve mall in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. I would love to go there again!

A free night’s stay in a swanky hotel in the golden triangle area of the capital. What a way to end a business trip away. Beyond expectations really. The room is labelled premium so we get located to near the top floor. Then we get super fast wifi for five appliances. The bell boy who attends to us is so informative and polite – obviously well trained. Wow.

The ceiling of the room is so high that one can’t help but be impressed.

Not to mention the little touches that make it a little more special, such as extra towels without being asked.

It made this business-cum-getaway a special and blessed one!
