Lockdown Menu – Homemade Goodies

21/03/2020

Fourteen days of food to have to think about. For some it is just too daunting. They would rather have instant noodles daily… until the ingestion of this menu ends in hospitalisation!Whilst I love noodles, I still prefer variety.

I also enjoy simple meals. One simple one is a slice of home-made bread. I make this weekly. Packed with the goodies I like, like chia seeds, sunflower seeds, orange peel… Healthy stuff!

Then add some home-made mulberry jam… low sugar, perfect consistency, no additives. Always satisfying!

What about you? Any suggestions for menu during lockdown?

Soapy Solutions

20/03/2020

When you are living under government controlled movement order, working from home can require major adjustments.

Thankful for Hubby who is a whizz at experimenting and doing new things.

Here he is, making soap! Such an apt activity at this time. Each batch takes a month to cure, but already this one already looks good! Most are fragrance-free because our son prefers that. Three have my preferred and experimental scents added in. I’m already looking forward to the end of the month when I can try them out!

So how are YOU spending your time these days?

Integrity When No One Sees

18/03/2020

The virus has come to my nation, spreading itself speedily. To try and slow down the spread, a fortnight of restricted movement has begun. At the start of these two weeks, I am reminded to live (walk) in the midst of our abodes (within my house) with simplicity, uprightness, integrity, and from the inside out. That our conduct shown in our emotions, passions, is that of courage and boldness (perfect heart)

Start as we mean to continue, and number our days well.

Room with a View

04/01/2018

Sometimes it is just nice to sit and be still. It’s been such a hectic few months. From multiple weddings to funerals, from Christmas plays to Christmas parties, from rehearsals to performances, from family time to work catch-ups…. It’s time to relax. Be quiet. And just chill.

What better way than to do it from a room with a view? Apart from being by the beach, or enjoying a walk in the park… sometimes I just want to hibernate. Thankful for the view I get….
Do you like what you see?

Magnet Magic

02/06/2017

There is just something about magical about magnets. Coming in all shapes and sizes, they can give much pleasure to the little ones. Learning shapes, colours, and yes, even alphabet and numbers. From there, they can even spell and make phrases.

Fridge doors are the best places to have them.  Given a good variety of good quality magnets, you can watch the children play as you mooch about nearby. Add to the magnets other materials which can and cant be stuck by the magnet, and the children will learn even more. The possibilities are quite endless!

Now that my children have outgrown these versatile entertainment, I still keep them around because they are handy for when visitors’ children come around! Yay!

Ma Friend

20/03/2015

First to greet us when we get home.

Always keen to go for walks with us.

Alert whenever someone new comes.

IMG_4576 But

Runs away when strangers approach her.

Barks at even the little children.

Doesn’t like unfamiliar cars.

Considers motorbikes the enemy to be chased off the premises.

Yes, meet my nine-year old canine named Sprite.

Thankful

21/04/2014

It was a seemingly minor error. I had driven into the porch. We now have an extra car for the children to use. So I drove to the left a little, to make way for the third car to park in the middle. Lo and behold, I accidentally clip a step. It seemed an insignificant bump and I continued to manoeuvre the car into parking position.

When I got out of the car, I heard this awfully loud hiss.

I looked for the source of the sound. It was the front left tyre. That little clip had cost me an entire tyre.

Thankful that Arrow #1 was around to help with the change. The old tyre was on rather tight and it took quite a lot of effort to get it off. But after that, it was easy.  IMG_6471Thankful, yes very thankful, that he is around these days Ha!

Walk and View

01/04/2014

This was the view from my evening walk the other day. I downloaded the photo I took and used it as the wallpaper for my computer. Nice? I think so!Screen Shot 2014-04-07 at 2.56.36 PMI’ve said it before, and I will say it again – my place has the best sunsets ever!!! No kidding!

Dream Abode

02/03/2014

We are still talking about our wonderful holiday recently. One would have thought that this we thought it would last us for a while. Instead it has whetted our appetite for more travel! What’s more when we found this lovely property! Don’t get me wrong. We also love where we are now. It’s a lovely place – naturally pristine beaches and wonderful diving, fantastic mountains nearby… you name it… It’s just that this could be another place we could spend our sunset years in. Of course we would have to commute… But that’s traveling… and the bug we have caught!

Beautiful Craft Abound

26/02/2014

When we were on tour, we saw a lot of nice craft and decor for the house. Some quaint shops like this are jam-packed and full of nice goodies.IMG_6271 In some shops I could peek in and see people at work. All done by hand.IMG_6288So when Hubby said he was thinking of having new decor in the house, one consideration was digital printed spandex stretch cover for the cushions in the living room, to complement what we already have. It might work out well to go with the simple plain colours we presently have…
